The Gospels: The Lord's Supper
1. We learned in the video that “Gospels” means “Good News.” Share something from your day that was/is good news.
2. Who were the Gospel writers in the video? (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) 3. Read in a story Bible such as the Spark Story Bible or from a Bible of your choosing in one of the Gospels in Matthew 26:31-75; Mark 14:26-72; and/or Luke 22:32-71. Readers can practice finding the scripture in their Bibles. 4. The story of the Last Supper is one of many stories in the New Testament, or as we some-times call it, the Second Testament, which teaches us the Good News about Jesus. 5. Ask: Why would telling people about Jesus be good news? (You can help your young child think about Jesus as Good News because he shows us how much God loves us.) What did Jesus do at the Last Supper? (He broke bread and poured the cup and said “Do this in remembrance of me.”) What are we supposed to remember at communion? (The bread and cup remind us of God’s love, Jesus’ body and blood.) Prayer: Dear God, thank you for this special family meal and the special church family meal you gave us to remember you. Help us to share your Good News with our friends and family. Amen. The Gospels: the Story of the Mustard Seed
1. We learned in the video that in the Gospels there are stories of Jesus doing miracles, lov-ing people, and telling them stories. Tell a story of something that happened to you or someone you know today.
2. Who were the Gospel writers in the video? (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) 3. Read in a story Bible such as the Spark Story Bible or from a Bible of your choosing in one of the Gospels in Matthew 13:31-32, Mark 4:30-32; Luke 17:5-10. Readers can practice finding the scripture in their Bibles. 4. The Parable of the Mustard Seed is a very short story. A parable is a type of story Jesus used to make a spiritual point. Jesus told many parables. Can you name some? (The lost sheep, the good Samaritan, the prodigal son) 5. Ask: How large is a mustard seed compared to a mountain? What things can you think of that start very small and grow into something much larger? (Babies, trees, churches, coun-tries). Jesus used this parable to describe the family of God. How would you describe God’s family? How can you help God’s family grow? Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the stories of Jesus that help us to grow. Help us to show your love and to tell others your Good News so that your family continues to grow. Amen. The Book of Acts and Paul's Conversion
