The Chancel Choir, a chamber orchestra, and soloists will present "The Seven Last Words of Christ" by Theodore Dubois. This most well-known of Dubois’ works was first performed on Good Friday in Paris. The first four books of the New Testament record the seven words or sayings said by Jesus on the cross. This cantata by Dubois is “a musical journey into the depth of sorrow and the weight of these words spoken by Jesus during his final hours, concluding with a serene hymn which provides the listener with a foretaste of the resurrection after the compelling drama of the Passion story.” This is a one hour service.
