First Chamber Choir
The Birmingham-First Chamber Choir is a unique collection of music students, professional musicians, and amateur choristers. The students bring fresh energy and vitality, the professionals bring valuable experience and expertise, and the amateurs bring a contagious love of singing. Now in its sixth season, the Birmingham-First Chamber Choir is directed by its founding artistic director, Tom Trenney. The ensemble has performed in concert throughout Michigan and Ohio, debuting with the American Choral Directors Association in 2006. The group has sung with such esteemed conductors as Anton Armstrong, David Davidson, Joseph Flummerfelt, Alice Parker, and William Weinert. Whether singing engaging and colorful performances of the great choral/orchestral works of Johann Sebastian Bach or eclectic and creative programs of varied styles of a cappella music, the Birmingham-First Chamber Choir is committed to offering its members a healthy, supportive community in which to share music making at a very high level. The choir seeks to offer its audiences compelling, communicative performances that inspire and enable a greater love of the choral art. The Birmingham-First Chamber Choir is sponsored by Many Voices…One Song which offers many performance and enrichment opportunities to share music and build community.
