7:00 pm The service focuses on the struggles and emotional chaos Mother’s Day conjures for many. This short reflective service will allow us to acknowledge our pain and invite God, who always loves us, into our struggle. Whatever your story: grieving the loss of a mother or a child, struggling with infertility or singleness, if you never knew your mother, or any other reason you find Mother’s Day painful, this service has been designed with you in mind. Together we will acknowledge the bittersweet emotions surrounding Mother’s Day, and create a safe space to grieve, lament, and support one another this year. The “When Mother’s Day Hurts” service will include Psalms of lament to help us express our pain and confusion with God and the situation in which we find ourselves. There will be time for personal prayerful reflection, and guided Taize style singing. The service will include a time of anointing and an artistic release of pain and symbol for continued hope. |
