Youth Open MiC

When is it?

The Youth Open MiC will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 12 and will conclude at 6 p.m. on Friday, July16.

What is the Cost?

The cost will be $150 per participant.  This covers all meals, materials  and transportation to and from the mission sites.  Financial assistance is available.

Who Can Participate?

Rising 9th graders through graduated seniors who are members or friends of FPC are invited.  We may also have youth from partner churches participating.

What kind of work will we do?

We’ll work with Camp Hosanna, a literacy and Christian Education camp in Pontiac, which is a collaborative effort between FPC, Kirk in the Hills, and New Bethel Missionary Baptist.  We’ll have a tour of Pontiac, learning about it’s history and current hopes and struggles.  We will work with Baldwin Center and possibly other local human services agencies on a variety of projects.  We’ll have a car wash to raise money for the youth mission fund.  We’ll host a blood drive.

Why Live in Community?

Sure, we could all go home each night, sleep in our own beds, and shower in our own shower.  The    mission work would still get done.  We would still be transformed through service.  However, the power of community can be even more transformative.  Guided by the description of the early church found in the book of Acts, we’ll learn to be the community of Christ-followers, living, serving, playing and worshiping together daily.

How Do I Get Involved?

If you are interested in participating you can register by filling out the form below and mailing a check for $150 to FPC Birmingham.  Or if you prefer, you can download the registration form and mail it along with your check.  All participants must have a current youth permission slip on file.
