“Rejoice
& Renew! reflects the essence of whom God calls us to
be. God blesses us daily. As we rejoice in
those blessings and seek ways to share them with others, we
become a community that focuses on worship and hospitality,
service and compassion, justice and comfort. Although we may
not always identify it as such, one of our greatest blessings
was provided by God through a group that came before us, the
faithful congregation whose vision and sacrifice provided the
house of worship in which we gather week after week. We daily
benefit from their legacy of faith to the future. As we move
toward the 175th anniversary of First Presbyterian Church, we
can renew that legacy for others. We have the
call and the opportunity to have the vision and sacrifice that
will bless those who will gather here fifty years and more
after us. We have the call and opportunity to provide for the
children and youth we pledge to uphold when we baptize them,
for strangers yet to enter our doors, and for a community of
faith whose challenges and opportunities we cannot imagine.
As we seek to provide that legacy, God will provide for even
deeper rejoicing and renewal.”
