Sanctuary Character

The following character statement was developed to focus our design.
"The FPC sanctuary should be warm, inspiring, embracing, timeless and simple."

• Warm: relaxing, comfortable, harmonious in materials, design and color

• Inspiring: spiritual, reverent, uplifting, luminous

• Embracing: engaging, inclusive, creates a sense of community

• Timeless: speaks to the future and respects the past

• Simple: uncluttered, lack of distraction, clean, “less-is-more”

The following design fundamentals were developed by our sanctuary design committee:

• Focus on pulpit, communion table, baptismal font (obviously reformed, Presbyterian)

• Flexible (yet sturdy); accessible

• Unified / Connected (chancel and nave)

• Consistent with existing church architecture
