2008 Diversity Champion
FPC member, Rosy Latimore, will be honored as
our 2008 Diversity Champion at The Birmingham
Community House on April 17, 2008. Her many
activities at FPC and throughout our whole
denomination have built bridges of understanding and
reconciliation. Rosy, an elder, was trained at
Columbia University NYC as a multicultural
facilitator. She presently serves on the Committee
of Ministry at the Presbytery of Detroit, as Pastor
Search chair. As an elder, Rosy has been elected to
serve as a commissioner to the national General
Assembly. She is a member of the FPC Evangelism
Committee and serves on the Peace, Mission and
Justice planning committee. Rosy has worked
tirelessly to build a more inclusive and diverse
community throughout the Greater Detroit Community.
She served as co-chair of the Multi-Cultural Task
Force within the Presbytery of Detroit and as a
member of the Anti-Racism and Reconciliation Team.
She has served as VP of the Michigan Black
Presbyterian Caucus, where she is current Membership
chair, and she chairs the Cross Cultural Alliance
Ministry (CCAM). Rosy not only works effectively
within the systems of the church and through many
committees, she also finds time to give individual
tutoring to children in need at Alcott Elementary
School in Pontiac. Rosy is an inspiration and a
model for all in the arena of inclusiveness, always
inviting people to experience and grow in God’s
Beloved Community.
