The Chancel Choir
The
Chancel Choir is comprised of adults who enjoy preparing and
offering a wide variety of music for worship services and
special musical events. The Chancel Choir sings regularly for
worship services and also participates in many concerts. This
season's repertoire includes Dvorak's Stabat Mater.
Singing in the Chancel Choir is without question a major
commitment, but the rewards are worthwhile in every way!
Rehearsals are held September through May on Wednesdays from
7:45-9:30 p.m. in the Choir Room. Click for this choir's

Casual Choir
There are no auditions or rehearsals required for your
enthusiastic participation in Casual Choir. Everyone is
invited to sample the choral experience by coming the last
Sunday of the month at 9:15 to warm-up, to practice a bit,
then to sing the service, and head home. No commitments, no
extensive schedule. Participation is simple and fun! Join us
the last Sunday of each month at 9:15 for Casual Choir!
FPC Chamber Singers
The FPC Chamber
Singers sing once a month in worship and on special occasions
during the church year. This ensemble of eight to twelve
singers frequently offers challenging a cappella repertoire
spanning from the fourteenth to the twenty-first century.
Rehearsals are scheduled as needed. This spring, the FPC
Chamber Singers will sing Johann Sebastian Bach's St. John
Passion as part of the Holy Week services at FPC.

Singers' schedule.
Chapel Choir
The
Chapel Choir welcomes our young singers in grades 2-6 who
desire to share their talents worshipping God through music.
We maintain an active schedule of singing throughout the year
both in services and in concert settings. The Chapel Choir
experience provides a warm, welcoming environment for children
to explore their artistic gifts, to begin to nurture their
musical skills and vocabulary, and to channel their creative
energies in a fun and meaningful way! The Chapel Choir
rehearses on Wednesday afternoons, September through May from
5:00-6:00 p.m. in the New Song Studio. This group has recently
sung for a concert celebrating the music of the
African-American tradition.

Choir's schedule.
Carol Choir
The
Carol Choir is a preparatory choir for our younger lads and
lasses in kindergarten through second grade. We gradually
learn many of the fundamentals of sound choral singing in the
process of learning to read music and to work together. We
also begin to develop the discipline required for successful
music-making, all the while having fun as we uncover new ways
of offering praise to God through music. The Carol Choir
rehearses on Wednesday afternoons, September though May, from
4:30- 5:00 p.m. in the Children's Choir Room (New Song
Studio). Last season, the children sang with Mr. McFeely from
Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.

Trombone Choir
A unique and popular part of the music department is the
presence of a trombone choir, coordinated by Ward Lamphere.
The core trombone choir consists of four trombonists and a
tuba, although as many as twelve have performed at one time.
The ensemble performs a broad repertoire ranging from the
Renaissance to the present, and often performs music
specially arranged by members of the group. The choir
regularly leads in worship services and has been coached by
guest artists like Ken Thompkins, principal trombone of the
Detroit Symphony, and Maury Okun, principal trombone of the
Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra.
FPC Ringers
FPC
Ringers play our five octaves of Malmark bells and chimes.
The FPC Ringers appear monthly in worship and participate in
the annual Many Voices...One Song
workshop. This exciting ensemble is open to adults and youth
who have some ringing experience and musical background. The FPC
Ringers, directed by Donna Calhoun, have coached with many
leading bell clinicians, including David Davidson and Kevin
McChesney. They
will have the opportunity to play with noted composer Dean
Wagner in April. Summer Choir
During the
air-conditioned months of June, July, and August, FPC's
choir loft is filled with the Summer Choir. Summer Choir
members need only attend one rehearsal in order to prepare
for an entire season of singing in worship. It's a perfect
way to try out singing in choir without making an extensive
time commitment. Even if your previous singing experience
has been behind a shower curtain or steering wheel, this is
the group for you!
