Church Mission Statement
As we respond to God in
Christ, the mission of First Presbyterian Church is to be a community
of faith that celebrates its heritage, lives the will of God, and
reaches out in Christ’s love through ministries of worship,
education, service and nurture.
First
Presbyterian Church Vision Statement
God in Christ calls us to
offer ministries of worship and music that reflect our Reformed
heritage, respond to fresh movements of the Holy Spirit, and welcome
and include people of all ages and stages of faith. Through these
ministries we will glorify God, prepare ourselves for lives of faith
and service, and spread the gospel.
God in Christ calls us to
offer ministries of mission and outreach that involve us
personally in service, help us to be good neighbors in our local
context, and reflect the priorities of the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.). Through these ministries we will serve others in Jesus'
name, welcome and support the differently able, and spread the
gospel through just and compassionate service.
God in Christ calls us to
ministries of education and spiritual formation that are rooted
in scripture and Reformed tradition, informed by current learning
research, and responsive to contemporary events. Through these
ministries we will provide basic Christian formation, help each
other to integrate our faith into our daily lives, and manifest our
love for all people while expressing our distinctly Christian
identity.
God in Christ calls us to
ministries of nurture that form and celebrate authentic
Christian community. Through these ministries we will foster deep
and lasting friendships, guide and accompany each other through
life's most challenging transitions, and welcome others as God in
Christ has welcomed us.
Focus Statement
First Presbyterian Church is an inclusive,
mission oriented, and intellectually vibrant faith community. We
believe Christ has called us to reach out to all people, especially
those with special needs, by leading in creative ministries of
education and music.
