For centuries Christians sought to build houses of worship that reflected their relationship with God.  From ornate cathedrals to simple meeting houses, church buildings complemented the style of worship practiced by the congregation within that household of God.

We are blessed with the opportunity to re-envision our household, to build on the legacy left us by the congregation of 1954.  By design, this new vision brings us back to our Presbyterian roots.  Baptism, Communion and the Word are the cornerstones.  Music is the mortar.  Together they lift up our congregation as we worship "one Lord, one faith, one baptism." [Ephesians 4:5]

What is Rejoice & Renew! all about?
  • Glorifying God through simple & practical beauty
  • Proclaiming the Word
  • Celebrating the sacraments
  • Enjoying music & liturgy in all their forms
  • “Saying thank you to the past by saying we believe in the future.” - L.P. Jones, Ph.D., Pastor

Rejoice & Renew! reflects the essence of whom God calls us to be.  God blesses us daily.  As we rejoice in those blessings and seek ways to share them with others, we become a community that focuses on worship and hospitality, service and compassion, justice and comfort.  Although we may not always identify it as such, one of our greatest blessings was provided by God through a group that came before us, the faithful congregation whose vision and sacrifice provided the house of worship in which we gather week after week.  We daily benefit from their legacy of faith to the future.  As we move toward the 175th anniversary of First Presbyterian Church, we can renew that legacy for others.  We have the call and the opportunity to have the vision and sacrifice that will bless those who will gather here fifty years and more after us. We have the call and opportunity to provide for the children and youth we pledge to uphold when we baptize them, for strangers yet to enter our doors, and for a community of faith whose challenges and opportunities we cannot imagine.  As we seek to provide that legacy, God will provide for even deeper rejoicing and renewal.”   L. P. Jones, Ph.D., Pastor
