Workshop Leader’s Job Description
Thank you for committing your time to leading our children in this unit of CrossWalks. Take time to get to know your students and to share yourself with them. You will need to spend the first portion every week reviewing your lesson and story. A general class outline is provided along with lesson background material for your information. Please plan to do the following:

Attend a short teacher meeting prior to the five week session in which you will teach. You will receive lesson plans and instructions for the unit.

Pray for the program, the students, and yourself.

Prepare the lesson and materials. Lessons may need to be adjusted for age groups.

Review your lesson each week to refresh your memory. Be flexible. You may need to change your method of teaching, if necessary.

The Shepherds will bring the kids up to your workshop room approximately 25 minutes into the hour. The children begin in the worship service, go to the chapel (the Red Sea Cinema until Advent) following The Time with the Younger Church, and sing a song. They will sit with their class in the chapel and the Shepherds will guide them to the proper room. They will settle the children in the room and open with a time of prayer.

Introduce yourself each week to the children and go over the Conduct Covenant posted in each room.

Tell the story and move into your specific method for teaching. BE sure to re-tell the story each week in your classroom. As you tell it, hold the Good News version of the Bible in your hands. Encourage the kids to bring their Bibles to Class. The older ones can look the story up and read along. Try telling the story in different ways. After the first week or two, you could invite the kids to help you tell the story.

Sometime during the class, review the memory verse as a group. An activity to help with memorization will be included in your lesson plan.

Please straighten the room at the end of the hour.

Wait for parents to pick up the children from your room.

You will be asked to fill out an evaluation form at the end of your unit. This will help the curriculum team in lesson planning, so please return it promptly to Cindy Merten.
