Annual Giving Opportunities
At Everybody's Church we not only encourage regular giving to support the work of this congregation but we also have additional times in the life of our church when people have the opportunity to give to critical needs.
The Presbyterian Church USA has four annual giving opportunities which allow individuals to contribute to a wide variety of needs, both locally and around the world.
The Joy Offering
The One Great Hour of Sharing Offering
First Presbyterian Extra Giving Opportunities
At Everybody's Church there are always opportunities to give in a way that directs your funds directly to serving those in need.
Loose Change Offering - on the first Sunday of every month church members and visitors are encouraged to contribute their loose change to the offering plates. All loose offerings on those first Sundays go to the Deacons Fund to assist with immediate needs.
Every Family Feed a Family - Every Thanksgiving the church organizes a food drive intended to help feed people who would not other wise have a decent Thanksgiving dinner. A list of food stuffs is handed out and people can either shop for those goods or write a check and volunteers will shop for you. The goods are distributed through Alcott Elementary School and Orchards Children's and Family Services.
Angel Tree and Mitten Tree - Every Advent members of the church are encouraged to help children in need of hats, mittens, gloves or toys for Christmas. At the entrance to the Chapel a mitten tree and an Angel tree are set up. Mittens, hats, etc. can be dropped off on the mitten tree. Needed gift requests are hung on the Angel tree where they can be picked up and purchased. The unwrapped gifts are returned to the church where they are then distributed.
Per Capita - every year First Church is assessed an amount per member which goes to support the wider church (Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly). The session encourages members to pay their portion of that per capita so that the budget does not have to bear the full cost of the apportionment.
